Who it is for
Organisations running an ageing on-premise application that is costly, fragile or hard to change, and that worry a move will mean downtime. A phased migration reduces that risk.
The problem
- Legacy on-premise application
- Fear of downtime
- No tested backup or rollback
What you get
- An assessment of the current application, data and hosting before any change.
- Verified backups taken first and restore-tested.
- A phased migration plan with a tested cutover.
- An agreed rollback path, so a failed step does not become an outage.
How we approach it
- Assess and back up first.
- Migrate in phases.
- Test cutover and agree a rollback path.
What we will not promise
Outcomes depend on your data, team and adoption. We scope after discovery and do not guarantee rankings, revenue or timelines in advance. We back up before any change and do not migrate without an agreed rollback.
Common questions
Will there be downtime? We plan to keep it short and scheduled, but any figure is only set after assessment. We do not promise zero downtime.
Do you only work with Azure? Our cloud practice centres on Microsoft Azure. If another platform suits your system better, we say so during the assessment.
Can you modernise the code as well? Sometimes a rehost is enough; sometimes parts need rewriting. We separate the two in the proposal so you choose the scope.
How an engagement runs
Discover, propose, deliver, support
The same four stages apply to every Incipit practice, so you always know what has been agreed and what happens next.
- 01
Discover
We learn the business need, the people who will use the result and the constraints, before any solution is proposed.
- 02
Propose
Scope, milestones, responsibilities and ownership are agreed in a written proposal.
- 03
Deliver
Work is built in milestones. You review working builds and approve each stage before the next begins.
- 04
Support
Handover of code and documentation as agreed, with maintenance and support available afterwards.
